125『40歳の童貞男』のスティーヴ・カレル、新作で犬に言葉を教える!?

日本では2005年のコメディー『40歳の童貞男』で、そしてアメリカではドラマ『The Office』で人気のスティーヴ・カレル。そんな彼の新作の詳細がわかった。
今回の新作『Dogs of Babel』は、キャロリン・パークハーストの同名小説（邦題は『バベルの犬』）を原作にした「笑いあり涙あり」の1本。カレルは劇中で、妻の死を目撃した唯一の"証人（犬）"となった愛犬に、人間の言葉を教えようとする言語学の教授を演じる。彼は妻の突然の死は単なる事故ではなく、何かが隠されていると考えていたのだ。メガホンを取るのは『ONCE ダブリンの街角で』のジョン・カーニー。
映画界でもTV界でも成功を収めたカレルには、今後も出演作が続いている。最近では、キーラ・ナイトレイと共演したコメディー・ドラマ『Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World』の撮影を終えたばかりで、このほかにもメリル・ストリープやトミー・リー・ジョーンズらと共演した『Great Hope Springs』にも出演している。さらにコメディー『Burt Wonderstone』では、ジム・キャリーと共にマジシャンを演じるとか。
ちなみにカレルの新作ロマコメ『ラブ・アゲイン（原題：Crazy, Stupid, Love）』は、11月19日（土）から日本でもロードショー。同作ではエマ・ストーンやライアン・ゴズリング、ジュリアン・ムーアらと共演している。こちらも要チェック！
