アメリカ、テキサス州オースティンで行なわれている世界最大の音楽コンベンションSXSW (South By South West :サウス・バイ・サウス・ウエスト)ミュージック・フェスティバルが今年で26周年を迎える。世界中が熱狂する大規模なこのイベントはいよいよ３月13日に幕を上げ、18日までお祭り騒ぎで繰り広げられるのだ。

開催中は世界中からミュージック・フリークたちが集まり飲めや歌えや、街をあげての大騒ぎになること必至。もちろん街は四六時中音楽で溢れている。オースティン中心部にある90カ所以上のステージでなんと約1500〜2000ものライブ・パフォーマンスが行われるのだ。大御所からローカルなバンドまで50カ国以上の国から集まったミュージシャンたちが一堂集結、当然ながら世界中からの注目を集めるこのベントをきっかけにブレイクしたスターも数少なくない。エイミーやノラ・ジョーンズ、アークティック・モンキーズ、ボン・イヴェール、ザ・ストロークスなどなど。

今年は一体どんなアーティストが出演するのか知りたいところだが、紹介するのはあまりに膨大すぎるラインナップであるし、オフィシャル・サイトにいけば閲覧できるものだ。しかし羅列されたリストを見てもおそらく知らないアーティストは沢山いるだろうから、一部の出演アーティストの音源を無料にて提供している＜Spinner＞のページを訪れ、150組以上のアーティスト音源（太っ腹！）ファイルをダウンロードしてみてはどうだろう。SXSWに行く人は予習のために、行かない人は参考までに今年の動向をチェックしてほしい。
