125『MAD MEN』のジョン・ハムが長年の恋人と結婚しない理由

エミー賞常連の人気ドラマ『MAD MEN』で名うてのプレイボーイ、ドン・ドレイパーを演じるジョン・ハム。だがその私生活は、ドンのそれとは大きく異なる。
女優兼脚本家のジェニファー・ウェストフェルトと、かれこれ15年ほど交際を続けているジョン。ジョンはUK版『ELLE』に対し、彼女と結婚しない理由を次のように語っている。
「さわらぬ神にたたりなし、かな（今のところ壊れていないものを、あれこれかき回すなの意）」「いうなれば、あらゆる人間関係は、日々のプロセス（の積み重ね）なんだ」
ジョンはまた、ジェニファーとは結婚していなくても十分、お互いに献身的だと告白。「紙切れが"コミットメント（責任）"を喚起するのなら、僕たちは（それなしでも）素晴らしいくらいにお互いのことを考えているよ」
2010年7月には、『Parade』誌とのインタビューで、「ジェン（ジェニファー）は僕にとって、生涯の恋人なんだ。僕たちは実際のところ、僕の両親よりも4倍もの年月を過ごしているんだよ（注：ジョンの両親は彼が2歳のときに離婚）」とコメント。さらに「僕らには、お手本となるような家族がいないんだ」とも話している。
1997年にパーティーで出会ったというジョンとジェニファー。2人が共演した新作『Friends With Kids』は明日3月16日より全米公開される。
