『ジャッジ・ドレッド』続編製作にカール・アーバンが署名を呼びかける！

人気コミックを原作に、シルヴェスター・スタローン主演で製作されたSFアクション映画『ジャッジ・ドレッド』（1995年）が昨年『ロード・オブ・ザ・リング』や『スター・トレック』に出演するカール・アーバン主演でリブートされ、熱狂的な原作ファンにも支持される成果を残した。


このリブート版『ジャッジ・ドレッド』は原作ファンも納得の出来ではあったが、いざ興行成績となると大成功とはいかず、続編製作の可能性は潰えたものと思われていた。しかし、続編製作を諦めなかったカール・アーバンが、多くの根強いファンたちに続編製作の請願書への署名を呼びかけているのだ。Facebookでも、「Make a DREDD Sequel Campaign(『ジャッジ・ドレッド』続編製作キャンペーン)」と題した署名運動が始まっている。

そんなカール・アーバンは、続編製作へのアツい思いを語る。

「2012年に『ジャッジ・ドレッド』のDVD／Blu-rayが発売されて、今年トップとなる65万本の売り上げを記録したんだ。それだけこの作品を求めているファンがいるってことだから、いま続編製作の可能性を模索しているところなんだよ。続編を期待するファンたちに署名してもらうためのキャンペーンも始めた。映画の評価と興行収入は、必ずしも比例しない。『ジャッジ・ドレッド』も内容への評価は高かったけど、成績は芳しくなかった。でもソフトがこれだけ売れるってことは、求めている人たちがいるってことなんだ。続編が作られることを願うよ」

オレ様な設定がかなりトホホな感じだったスタローン版に心底ガッカリしたファンたちを、しっかり喜ばせた新『ジャッジ・ドレッド』。ジャッジになりきったアーバンはもちろん、印象的な役柄に挑戦したオリヴィア・サールビーの演技も素晴らしかっただけに、なんとか続編製作が進むことを願う。

同じ志を持つ大きなお友達のみんな、再びスクリーンでジャッジに会うためにも、ここは日本からも署名しようではないか！
