赤坂の25歳美人プランナー 「無茶言われるのが好き」


今回の「はたらく美女」特集は、「赤坂bizタワーの田中美保」こと白根由麻さん。博報堂に入社して4年目のプロモーションプラナーで、先日掲載したオトバンク中川さん(https://news.aol.jp/2013/07/23/otobank/)とは、女性向けオーディオブックの試聴イベント「聴く書週間(http://www.febe.jp/documents/special/kikusho/ )」で一緒に仕事をした間柄だそうです。


そんな白根さん、出会ってそうそうに「私って会社が好きなんです」と明るくカミングアウト。平日はかなり遅い時間まで会社に居残るそうですが、それでも「仕事が楽しくて仕方ない」と爽やかに断言します。遊びたい盛りの25歳女子が、なぜそんなに仕事に打ち込めるのか。白根さんの仕事にかける想いをじっくり聞いてみました。

―今日はよろしくお願いします。そもそも、プロモーションプラナーとはどんなお仕事なんでしょうか?

広告と言うと、テレビCMや駅のポスターなどを想像する方が多いのですが、プロモーションプラナーは、今回の「聴く書週間」のように、お客様が商品のことを知り、実際に購入するまでのプランを総合的に考えます。

例えば、以前手がけたあるスポーツブランドのPR企画では、現役高校生の読者モデルが店員として働く夏休み限定ショップをオープンしました。高校生自身が実際に商品を取り扱うことで、口コミやSNSを通じて彼らのコミュニティの中で話題となり、CMに頼らずに認知を深めることができました。

一昔前であれば、スペックの高い製品を開発して大々的に広告をすれば物が売れたのでしょうが、今は"イメージ"だけでは消費者は動きません。その商品がユーザーの人生にどのように関わるのかというのを、リアルな体験として提供することで、ユーザーと商品の"絆"を結ぶことが重要なんです。そういう意味で、プランナーの仕事はとてもやりがいがあります。

―企画のアイディアはどのようにして考えるのですか?

一番大事なのは、「その商品やサービスがユーザーにとってどんな意味を持つのか」という"気づき"です。今回のオーディオブックであれば、「仕事や家事や恋愛に忙しい女性でも"読書"という贅沢な時間を手軽に楽しめる」という点になります。

そこで、その贅沢な時間をなるべく多くの女性に体験していただくために、カフェに試聴機を設置して、ドリンクを飲みながらゆったりオーディオブックを楽しんでもらう、という企画を発想しました。そこさえ決まってしまえば、「実施エリアは女性がのんびり散策を楽しむ代官山にしよう」「試聴機はオーディオブックのコンセプトが分かりやすい"書籍"型のデザインにして、書店のポップのような解説もつけよう」「カフェにお客さんを呼ぶために、街の入口である駅前で、使いやすいウチワ型のフライヤーを配ろう」など、アイディアがどんどん湧き出てくるんです。

―「どうしても良いアイディアが出ない!」ということはないんですか?

もちろん、まったくアイディアが出ないときもありますが、そういう時は自分で設定した課題自体が間違っていると思うようにしています(笑)。課題が正しければ、必ず正しいアイディアが生まれるはずなので。だからどうしてもアイディアが出なければ、課題自体をもう一度整理して設定し直します。

後はどんな依頼にも対応できるように、家でテレビを観ているときにも新聞を読んでいるときにも、24時間常にアイディアを探すようにしています。昔はまったく気にしていなかった中吊り広告も、一車両分すべて目を通したり。これはもはや職業病ですね(笑)。


―上司やクライアントから無茶な要求とかはされませんか?

時には厳しい注文を受けることもありますが、無茶を言われるのはあんまり嫌いじゃないんです(笑)。むしろ、色々な要求をきちんと調整して実行までこぎつけたときに、すごい達成感を覚えます。だから、連日遅くまでデスクワークをするのもあまり苦には感じませんね。

―その仕事に対するモチベーションはどこから来るんでしょうか?

やっぱり"面白い"というのが一番だと思います。こういう言い方をすると少し語弊があるのですが、私はあまり仕事を仕事とは捉えていないんです。プロジェクトを通じて、今までの自分に無かった斬新な発想に触れるのも、ぼんやりしていたアイディアが少しずつ形になっていくのを見るのも、本当に楽しいです。

大学時代にはダンスサークルに所属していたのですが、そこでも舞台の上に立つよりも、振り付けや照明や関係者との調整など、公演前に準備をすることに喜びを感じていました。たぶん、根っからの"裏方気質"なんだと思います。
