ゴミを拾って詩人になろう! イケメンゴミ拾いマニアに密着取材


ゴミ拾いというのは、いいことだ。
お釈迦様もキリストもエジソンもそう言っている。
・・・かどうかは知らないが、世の中一般的に、ゴミ拾いという行為は、いいことのベスト3に入る善行であろう。
しかし、その「いいこと」っぽさが故に、敷居が高くなっている面もある。
ふだんハードボイルドを気取っている筆者は(そしてハードボイルドを気取っていない普通の人々の多くも)、いいこと感満点の行為であるゴミ拾いは、どことなく気恥ずかしく、「いやいや俺なんて~、そんなー、ゴミ拾いですかー?」という具合に、やや距離を置いた生活を送ってしまっているのが実情だ。

ところが、そんなゴミ拾いを、マニアといっていいほどの域まで高めた、クールなゴミ拾いニストが静岡にいるのだ。


●2万9000個を拾うナイスガイ

静岡県富士宮市に住む、Ryoheiさん。彼がこれまでに拾ったゴミは2万9000個以上。
通勤中や朝のウォーキングなど、日常生活の中で、ゴミを拾っている。

ゴミ拾いがRyoheiさんの日課になったのは、ゴミ拾いアプリ「PIRIKA」との出会いがきっかけだ。

ゴミ拾いアプリ「PIRIKA」とは、ゴミを拾って写真を撮り、それを位置情報とともにアップロードするアプリである。
アプリを立ち上げると、星が並んだ地図が開く。この星が、ユーザーによって拾われたゴミだ。
星をタップすると、写真とコメントが表示される。
ただそれだけのアプリだ。
いやはや、「それだけ」と言ってしまえばそれまでなのだが、「それだけ」であるところにこれまでの「ゴミ拾い」にはない魅力がこれでもかと詰まっているのである。

PIRIKAでゴミを拾っても、ポイントやマイルがたまって何かがもらえるとか、所得税が減額されるとか、就職に有利だとか、つるつる赤ちゃん肌になるとか、そういった対価はない。
もちろん、「世界をキレイに」といった大義名分はあるが、ゴミ拾いを手段ではなく、目的にしているところがこのアプリの魅力のひとつである。

PIRIKAを生み出した、株式会社ピリカの小嶌不二夫CEOも「捨てる数よりも拾う数の方が多くなれば、ゴミ問題は解決するんじゃないかなと、単純に数字的な考え方でこのアプリを作りました」と言う。
ゴミ拾いというと、どうしても"おりこうさん"な、イメージがつきまとってしまうが、PIRIKAにはそんな押しつけがましさが無い。
ただ「ゴミを拾う、写真を撮る、アップする」という仕組みを提供するだけで、それをどう利用するかは、ユーザーに任せられている。


<これがゴミ拾いの必需品>

●ちょっと変な目で見られてます

そんなPIRIKAに出会ったのがきっかけで、日々ゴミ拾いに精を出すこととなったユーザーの一人がRyouheiさんなのだ。

Ryouheiさんは、サーフィンが趣味で、海岸でのゴミ拾いに参加するなど、ゴミ問題に関する意識の高い方ではあったが、だからといって、毎日通勤中にゴミ拾いをするようなことはなかった。
しかし、たまたまネットで知ったPIRIKAをダウンロードし、使用してみたところ、ゴミ拾いの魅力に引き込まれてしまったという。

PIRIKAを使い始めて以来、毎日の通勤やウォーキングの際にはゴミ袋とゴミ拾い用のトングを持ち歩き、ゴミを見つけては拾うのが日課になってしまったのだ。
さらには、PIRIKAの熱は家族にも及び、3歳の娘さんまでゴミを見つけると「ピリカ!」と言うまでに。
その活躍たるや、PIRIKA運営スタッフも目を見張るほどで、PIRIKAと「環境goo」とのコラボレーション企画「富士山のゴミを377,600個拾おう」キャンペーンでは、個人としては圧倒的な数のゴミを集めている。

※裏話になってしまうが、実のところこの「富士山のゴミを377,600個拾おう」キャンペーン、思うようにゴミが集まっていない(本原稿執筆時点で83204個......)。
gooはサイトを利用するだけで富士山への寄付になる、goo富士山版を立ち上げるなど富士山への貢献に力を入れている。
それなのに、この数でこれではいかんと、PIRIKAと環境gooのスタッフが、Ryouheiさんの元を訪ねて感謝の意を表しつつ、自分たちでもゴミを拾おうと、富士宮へと繰り出すと聞き、筆者も同行したというのが、この取材のいきさつである。




<拾ってはアップをくり返す>

当然ながら筆者がRyouheiさんに会うのはこの日が初めてで、いったいどんな人なのだろうかと想像していたが、待ち合わせ場所にいたのは、ダンサーのSAMに似たクールなイケメンで、ゴミ拾いとは結びつかない。
実際、通勤中のゴミ拾いを会社の同僚に目撃されて「ちょっと変な目で見られてます」というから(いや、ゴミ拾いはちっとも変なことなんかじゃないんだけれど)、親しい人から見てもゴミ拾いと彼は結びつかないのだろう。



●そして人は詩人になる

そんなRyouheiさんがどうしてゴミ拾いにハマってしまったのか。
「ゴミを拾えば徳を積めるかな、と思って」と冗談めかして笑うが、無論それだけで2万9000個もゴミを拾えるわけもあるまい。
「楽しいんですよ、拾ってアップするのが」というのが、本当のところのようだ。
確かに、Ryouheiさんの投稿を見ていると、ゴミ拾いを楽しんでいる様子がよくわかる。

<わずか1時間弱でこれだけのゴミが>

投稿写真に添えられたコメントも「地球は宇宙なんだね」「希望を手に入れた」「花とゴミは似合わないが...ゴミだけよりいいよね!」「あの雲の向こうの海から来たんだなー」と、まるで詩人のよう。
そう、彼はPIRIKAと出会ったおかげで「ゴミ拾い詩人」になったのだ。
「毎日拾って、カレンダー(アプリには拾った日付がカレンダーで表示される)を全部埋める」ことが当面の目標というが、これだけ楽しんでいればその日も近いだろう。

Ryouheiさんと別れたあと、小嶌CEOと環境gooスタッフで河口湖周辺のゴミ拾いをした。

確かに、ただゴミを拾ってアップするだけなのに、不思議と達成感がある。
これは富士宮でも感じたことだが、知らない街を、ゴミを拾いながら散歩するのは、ただぶらぶらと散策するよりも街が身近に感じられる。これもPIRIKAの隠れた魅力の一つだ。
細かい路地や空き地など、普通の観光では目が行き届かない細かいところまで注意するようになるからだろう。
今後旅行に出かける際は、ゴミ袋とトングを用意しようと思う。
知らない街で私も詩人になれるだろうか。
