コカ・コーラの「キャップで友達ができるかもしれないプロジェクト」が世界中から称賛


斬新かつユニークなプロジェクトで知られるコカ・コーラが、今度は「友達作り」のきっかけを提供している。


映像ではまず、新年度を迎えたばかりのキャンパスの様子が映し出される。中学や高校とは違い、大学には全米各地、また海外からも学生が集まってくる。そこで不安そうに「知らない人ばかり...」と周りを見回す新入生たちが知り合うきっかけを作ろうと、コカ・コーラは"Friendly Twist"プロジェクトの一環として、キャンパスの一角にコカ・コーラのペットボトルが入った冷蔵ケースを設置した。

誰でもコカ・コーラのボトルがもらえるとあって、学生たちは次々とケースに近づいていく。だがキャップには特殊な仕掛けがあり、同じボトルを持つ人同士でキャップの"突起"を合わせてひねる(Twist)ことをしなければ、開けられないようになっているのだ。戸惑いながらも、見ず知らずの他人に声をかけては、力を合わせてボトルを開けていく学生たち。この一瞬の交流が、緊張していた学生の心をほぐし、笑顔や会話を生み出していった。

CMは「Open a Coke, Open a new friendship(意訳:コカ・コーラのボトルを開けて、新たな友情を作ろう)」という、なんともニクいフレーズで締めくくられている。

この"Friendly Twist"プロジェクト、YouTubeでの再生回数は、公開から10日あまりで200万を突破。CMを見た人からは

「素晴らしいコンセプトだ」
「これ、老人ホームでも使えるんじゃない? お年寄りだって友達が欲しいと思うんだ」
「スマホに夢中になっていると、お互いに声をかけるきっかけなんて無いもんな...」
「オタクとしてはむしろ、このキャップの仕組みに興味がある」

と、さまざまな声が。中には「こんなことで生まれた関係なんか、5分も続かないよ」といった辛口コメントもあったが、キャンパスの雰囲気が和やかになったのは間違いないだろう。
